Comparing Apples with Oranges!
We believe you will find our 264-SS and 327-SS heat-pumps stand-out as far superior than other brands, so we are providing information and some links on other brands so you can do your own research.
Comparison with other heat-pump brands
Sound Level: The biggest single complaint levelled against heat-pumps . . . .
Some brands don't even state the sound level of their systems, and the average person probably wouldn't know what "50db" sounds like anyway - but what we can assure you of, is that the heat-pumps on our split-system 264-SS & 327-SS systems are significantly quieter than any of the alternative systems listed here! They achieve this by using a much larger single-pass Fin Coil Evaporator permitting the use of a large low-speed (low noise) fan.
The larger single-pass Fin Coil Evaporator also leads to less frosting of the evaporator for better cold weather performance, therefore NO BOOSTER REQUIRED!

Solahart and Edwards are owned by Rheem USA (a wholly Japanese owned company!), and their Heat-Pumps are all basically the same.
You can get their specs from here:

Edwards: http://www.edwards.com.au/files/brochures/Heat Pump Technical Sheet.pdf

Rheem MPs-325 (split):
http://www.rheem.com.au/downloads/PDF/Rheem_Heat_Pump_MPs325_2pp_A4-FLR_WEB.pdf
This split-system uses a smaller 800w compressor which means it needs to run longer to recover the same amount of hot water as their compact unit. It also only has a water connection to the separate heat-pump so it's not a 'true' split-system.
Notice the recovery rate at 20oC ambient 73Lt/hr - Ours is 100Lt/hr
Notice they revert to element booster at just above 0oC ambient - Ours is rated down to -5oC and doesn't require a booster. (we've seen a 327-SS working at -8oC)
The Rheems score 28RECs in zones 1,3, & 4, but only have mild steel tanks with 5yr tank warranty, and require sacrificial anodes to be inspected/replaced every 3-5yrs.
Our 327-SS 327Lt model scores higher at 30REC's AND has a 10yr warranty on the stainless steel tank!

DUX Sub Zero: http://www.dux.com.au/downloads/Airoheat_Subzero_Spec_Sheet.pdf
The DUX Airoheat Sub Zero 250Lt scores 30RECs in zones 1,3, & 4, but only has a mild steel tank with 5yr tank warranty.
Our 264-SS 264Lt model scores higher at 31REC's AND has a 10yr warranty on the stainless steel tank!

Quantum: http://www.quantumenergy.com.au/. . . QTM_DomesticBroucher_WEB.pdf
Heat-pump hot water technology was first developed in Australia in the Seventies, by John Siddons (Sidchrome tools). Through various corporate changes, the business is now a publicly listed company known as Quantum Energy Technologies, and they still make heat-pumps today following the original principals.
The current Quantum 270 & 340 Compacts
score 26RECs in zones 1, 3, & 4 (6 y.o. design showing its age with lower efficiency rating than others). Now made in China, they are good units, but John Siddons recently created a superior design, the 264-SS and 327-SS, and Skyline Energy is pleased to offer them to YOU.

If you find better or quieter units than the 264-SS & 327-SS, please let us know!
