How does it work?
This water heater operates on a similar principle as a
refrigerator or reverse-cycle air-conditioner. It literally
extracts and absorbs solar heat energy from the atmosphere. It
can therefore operate in all seasons of the year, under all
conditions; shade, overcast, sun, rain, frost, even at night.
The relatively small amount of electricity consumed by the
system is only used to drive the process of heat absorption.
There is no direct use of electricity to create heat.
All other solar collector type water heaters including
traditional flat plate and the new solar tube water heaters
rely on either an electric heating element or GAS booster, to
boost the water temperature during most of the year, even on
cloudy summer days.
Conventional GAS HWS & Electric Element water heaters
(including electric-boosted solar units) only return 70-90%
of the energy consumed, as water-heating energy.
This system returns
between 200% and over 400% (depending on ambient air temperature)
and it does not require a booster.
During the life of this product, electricity will be
generated more & more from renewable resources, making it
the energy of choice.

Why we don't use solar tube boosters!
These systems are inherently very efficient at absorbing solar energy in the form of heat from the air. The minimal additional savings that could be achieved by adding evacuated tubes simply would not justify the increased cost or effort of manufacture, supply and installation.
